Perspective

“For small creatures such as we, the vastness [of the universe] is made bearable only through love.”

~  Carl Sagan.  (1934-1996) American astronomer, planetary scientist, astrophysicist, cosmologist, astrobiologist, author

Carl Sagan has been one of my consistent heroes. His knowledge, humor, compassion, and directness I have admired since I first became aware of him decades (and decades) ago. I recently received the following from a like-minded friend, and wanted to share this profound and quite-beautiful-visual with you. I hope you are as moved as I was. I hope your perspective of irritants, joys, smallnesses and largess-es, them’s and us’s, undergo a shift, if for only a brief time. Ooohhhh!  And maybe longer!

The message that was forwarded was: “A NASA Mission was leaving the solar system when, at the request of Carl Sagan, it was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and take a last photo of Earth across a great expanse of space. The attached video’s accompanying words are spoken by Carl Sagan.  (You might want to keep your cursor [pointed] on earth.”
