“You have the power to heal your life, and you need to know that. We think so often that we are helpless, but we’re not. We always have the power of our minds… Claim and consciously use your power.”
~ Louise Hay.
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.”
~ Proverbs 4:30-22 NLT.
New Age. Old Age. The messages are the same. And have been for millennia, and millennia, among a myriad of cultures across this planet. So why is it that I’ll quickly grab a tylenol when I have an ache in my git-along, vs taking maybe a few moments to look at what my git-along represents or is trying to tell me.
Simply let the mind pull up thoughts associated with the body part-or-place. Go ahead; give it a ponder. Pain in the neck? How many times has that phrase been used to describe a situation or person. Hmmmm…..so ask, who or what is currently in your life, that you would describe that way?? Shouldering a burden? Pissed off? Giving me a headache? Ringing in the ears and what don’t you want to hear? Gut issues – and what you can’t stomach? See. It’s a simple, yet insightful game.
You’d be amazed at what flows through Mind. And how often “on the mark” those thoughts are. Equally amazing is how those insights can be acknowledged, and simply by acknowledgment, how much quicker the malady severity subsides. Sometimes completely! The tummy feels better, the headache drifts off into nothingness. Hmmm.
Everyone has some form of healing modality theory that they prefer to follow. None are wrong. They center in belief. The Mind. Simply personal (and oftimes societal expectations taught from a young age) include: Allopathic/Medical model. Christian Scientists’ faith. Chiropracty. Nutritionists. Ayurvedics.
How about the Laying-on-of-hands? Acts described in holy books/beliefs from the Quoan, the Talmud, the Bible, and the Tripitaka; Navajo and other Native American traditions; Reflexology, massage therapies, and ancient Asian modalities like acupuncture, reiki, ….and the list goes on. The power of touch; the exchange of energy. All powers of Belief.
Healings happen in a vast multitude of ways. The belief in the power of that healing is paramount. Belief happens in the Mind. That’s even why the power of the ‘placebo’ works; the user believes it is ‘the real thing.’ And for them…..it is!
Shat other therapies entice the Mind? Sound therapies being relief, and oftimes healing for the recipient. Again, the brainwaves involved in absorbing have been shown to slow. Ease. Create new neural connections.
If you’ve been alive over the past 86 years, you may have come in touch with Reader’s Digest and their Laughter Is The Best Medicine posts. Multiple scientific studies done by the V.A. (2018 most recently), and other institutions indicate “Laughter lowers levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. Laughter activates the mesolimbic dopaminergic reward system in the brain. Laughter increases serum immunoglobines A and E. In most studies, it seems to increase natural killer cell activities as well.”
(Pssst…..first published in February of 1922, Reader’s Digest officially shut down May of 2024. Bummer. No laughing matter!)
Whatever your modality, even if including multiple ones, BELIEVE in what you believe. Allow all forms of healing to happen. And, if you love someone who follows a healing path different than your own, should they ask if You believe healing will happen for them, simply lovingly reply: “I believe that you believe.” Therein lies the power.
Here’s to your health! Namaste’
